Many Australian households have three bins to dispose of STUFF:

  • Recycling bin – to collect used materials to re-process into new products.
  • Organics bin – to collect things that were once growing to make compost and mulch.
  • Waste bin – to collect materials that cannot be recycled, composted or reused.

It is important to recycle as many items as possible so we can reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill. This requires us to use the correct bin.

In the side menu you will find facts sheets (written for students) about the different disposal options. You should check with your local council to find out how various collections work in your area.
