KESAB has managed the Recycle Right® 1300 137 118 hotline and the email support system on behalf of Green Industries SA since April 2016.
Objectives are to respond and engage with the community, increasing their awareness about how to reduce waste to landfill, recycle correctly and to reduce contamination in council 3-bin kerbside collections.
The 2018 – 2019 period achieved very strong interface between the KESAB’s Recycle Right team, councils and community responding to around 525 calls, a 75% increase from the previous year.
Responses to electronic communications totalled 262 emails, a 5% increase from the previous year.
Following commissioning of in-depth social research, Recycle Right was re-branded Which Bin, and launched in May 2019 with a television ad campaign and a new look website www.whichbin.sa.gov.au
The objectives of Which Bin are to encourage householders to search for easier and more efficient information.
The website update process is progressing, already receiving strong feedback with the public drawing positive information from a support media campaign. WHICH BIN? JUST ASK VIN.

In the 2017 – 2018 period, statistics showed that Hazardous Waste (37%) was the area in which households sought specific information.
The 2018 – 2019 period shows that Waste to Landfill inquiries increased, demonstrating community concern and focus that respondents have through Recycle Right – Which Bin to do the right thing.
