KESAB environmental solutions has completed a 3-year partnership with SA Water to deliver the ‘Source to Tap’ program to communities in the APY Lands.

The program was originally developed in 2013 and delivered to two communities, Amata and Mimili. Since then the program has expanded and in 2014 was delivered to 7 communities with many of the resources featuring on a dedicated microsite.

In the past year the program has had many achievements.

  • An A3-size information poster to promote the education microsite. The poster was distributed to all remote communities on the APY Lands.
  • A field trip for 5 APY Lands schools to their local water hole and water treatment plant. The students understood the concept of where water comes from, undertook water testing at the waterhole (and swam in the water). These sessions were delivered in November 2017.
  • In May 2018, KESAB delivered 8 sessions on ‘Where does your water come from?’ Students participated in building an aquifer to support their learning that their water is extracted from the ground.

KESAB will continue to work with SA Water on the APY Lands in 2018-2019.
