KESAB online delivery – a virtual success

KESAB online delivery - a virtual success

Over the last 3 months, the KESAB education team stepped up to the challenges of COVID-19 by shifting to 100% online delivery, using the virtual platform Zoom. Between April and the end of June, we successfully delivered 42 virtual sessions to the South Australian community, with over 2,000 registrations and 999 attendees. These sessions were provided on behalf of our partnering councils – East Waste, the City of Unley, Port Pirie Regional Council, and the City of Port Adelaide Enfield. Sessions included Which Bin and Waste Awareness webinar presentations, virtual tours, and tutorials for hands-on activities such as beeswax wrap making, cooking with food scraps, composting and worm farming, and DIY cleaning and health-care products.

We would like to thank all the individuals and local businesses who made these sessions possible, particularly the virtual tours. In particular, thank you to Ryan Lokan and Angela Haydon from APR, Robbie Westley from Replas, Paul Bullus from ERA, Scott Morton from BioBag, Penelope Morrison from NAWMA, Jamaika Iglesias from IWS, Matthew Croft and Ben Randall-Smith from Jeffries, John Hogarth from Peats Soils and Garden, Luke Edwards from Airdale Primary School, and Mark Darling and Chris Davey from the Port Pirie Regional Council.

Attendees were predominantly from metropolitan Adelaide councils, however, there were also many attendees joining the sessions from regional South Australia, interstate and even overseas. The virtual tours attracted a particularly global audience, with participants tuning in from Canada, the USA, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

The feedback from these sessions was overwhelmingly positive, with all 260 survey responders stating that the session/s they attended fully met expectations.

I’m am very impressed with KESAB’s community outreach. From their educational programs, I can tell why SA is a leader in waste management, and I’m so proud to be involved as a citizen.

Best Webinar I have experienced in 11 weeks of working from home!! Non bias opinions in the webinar all info so factual and interesting too. Learnt lots and love the follow up documentation. Already signed up to another webinar. Thank you for providing these great opportunities.

This is the 3rd session I’ve attended, and I think they’re really great. I’m just moved back to Adelaide and trying to catch up on the local rules & regs in regard to recycling & waste so these sessions have been especially helpful. I’ve also shared info from them with my family members who have been really interested and clearer on some smaller details of recycling. I’m especially interested in knowing more about local initiatives & companies that we can potentially buy from to help them grow. Can’t wait for more sessions!

Based on this feedback from attendees and from Councils, we will be continuing to provide online sessions during the 2020-2021 financial year and beyond. You can find all upcoming events on the KESAB events page.
